The “CA Faux Appliqué” design which we printed live at ISS Long Beach garnered tremendous attention. The Hirsch booth was swamped with folks wanting samples and of course wanting to know “how’s it printed?”. Questions ranged from “do you do the stitching before the print?” or “that’s not really ink, is it?” to “what’s your EOM on the HD screens?”. We expected a lot of questions and so we came prepared with a simple spec sheet which you can download here: CA Faux Applique – One Sheet
But, a spec sheet only tells part of the story of “how it’s printed” in reality. You see setting-up and printing live at a busy trade-show is always stressful and pulling off a special effect print only amplifies the stress. So the real answer to “how’s it printed?” is of course:
Preparation: We sampled the print before the show and made necessary adjustments, imaged two sets of screens, mixed ample amounts of ink, created and fulfilled a supplies checklist, and loaded up the van
People: Several Motion Textile superstars enlisted to setup and run the press throughout the show (thanks Jose, Carlos, Ashley, Miguel, Phil!)
Press: We were lucky enough to work on the soon-to-be-available MHM SP 5000 (f’ing amazing machine), the succesor to the MHM SP 4000
