MHM Moves Forward

At the FESPA in Berlin we had a chance to catch up with the new owner of MHM Herbert Ritzer. It was refreshing to see a company being led by someone passionate about the company rather than out to extract every last penny out of the company and the future be damned. Herbert started with original owner, the brilliant late Herbert Mayrhofer in the 1980’s. He has a passion for the machines and has the business background, the mechanical engineering background and degree, and the hands on “wrenching” experience to really take the company forward. He unites MHM with Mechatronik Kufstein his company that makes custom machinery in Kufstein, Austria.

Also very refreshing was to hear him make plans to get an inventory of parts and a focus on serving existing customers versus revealing plans for some flashy new piece of equipment (though that will come in due time.) Being a very long time MHM owner I was happy to hear of this plan where I have a solid partner and my machines can run all day every day versus trying to impress somebody with having the press that is most popular or comes in a cool color…

The company’s intention to take a long view with commitment rather than a quick dash for profit is that Ritzer’s two sons (Tobias on the right, Christoph on the left) and his wife are all involved in the business.
A definite plus of the new company is that they have retained some of the best technicians including Hubert Gaderbauer pictured here with Eliot Neff (R) of the Ink Kitchen and yours truly (L.)
MHM’s new headquarters and factory in Kufstein in Austria which is the town it started in.

Besides  the company being put on a solid basis, MHM is already shipping out new machines and the future looks so so much rosier than when it was in receivership a year ago. This is all very good news for MHM owners and the industry.
