If you misprint something or if it is a close call, you have to get the info to the customer asap. For me, I don’t want them approving something that is clearly wrong, and I don’t want the customer to make judgements without all the information.

Usually we don’t worry that much about yellow dye migration. However, these babies bled like stuck pigs and the white ink turned yellow.

To give the customer who supplied the goods the bad news, I tried taking photos to save a day from overnighting them.

It took all the photo tricks I know and I tried with an android phone, an iPhone and a Nikon camera we use here at the office

1. inside no flash

2. inside with flash

3. outside but in the shade

4. in directly sunlight

None of these worked, checking on a couple of monitors I felt that none of the photos looked like what I saw in real life. Basically they all looked too good, the white looked white and in real life it looks like a smoker’s teeth.

Final trick, take a video.

That worked and conveyed how yellow the white really looks.

I’m not sure which photo is which in what follows, but the screen grab I made from the video is the one I sent. Its the one with the white looking the most yellow.
