Yahoo, ABC, Jezebel and many other news sources, and oh yeah, also the bad entertainment site ironically called, “Fox News” are all reporting on Target stores selling a shirt emblazoned with the word “Trophy.”  They are selling it in their Junior section oriented toward brides.

The retailer has received a firestorm of grief about it being demeaning to women. You would think that they would insist on a much nicer looking shirt or a much funnier design if they are going to get so much grief (add ironic wink…)

The person that put up a petition on change.org has a point saying, “Labeling any person as a ‘Trophy’ is demeaning their humanity and objectifying them as a tangible object that can be bought, used, and disposed of.”

Target responded by saying it was a “fun wink.”

The Jezebel reporter said, “So the ugly shirt isn’t sexist, it’s just a fun wink! Kind of like how catcalls are just friendly observations.”

Personally as a human rights activist and a guy that raised five daughters I thought this Target Canada pajama was worse. Dumb stuff all around.
