Teamsters and UPS Have a Contract, Strike is Averted

The Teamsters and UPS have a five year contract agreement and a paralyzing shipping strike was averted. Key elements with of course more details to follow are AC in the trucks, increased pay and better job protection and workplace conditions in particular for part-timers and those loading the trucks, MLK holiday, and other concessions from UPS which had $30billion in profits last year…

It is an overwhelming victory for the Teamsters, but good labor contracts attract good workers and keep good workers and that’s what makes UPS the most reliable shipping option so a win for everyone.

The contract still needs to be ratified but that should just be a formality.

Details of the contract here.

Everyone in the garment industry can breathe easier as life even for a day without UPS would have been ranging from bad to catastrophic for us.
